Past Expeditions

Over the years, UBES has run trips to a whole host of exciting and exotic worldwide locations. Reports on just a selection of these are shown below:

	Scotland: Winter 2008 Scotland. Burst tyres, bunkhouse raves, crossing rivers, camping in ridiculous weather, lake bagging, ice climbing, winter routes, winter skills, mental weather, ice axe arrests (very necessarily), Nevis, Glen Coe, Cairngorms, trifle, and SO MUCH SNOW
	Slovenia: Summer 2008 This summer our adventures took us to the eastern European country of Slovenia, home of mountains, lakes... and pivo! Trip report written by Eleri can be found online now!
	Scotland: Winter 2007 Conditions were perfect, and this year, 22 very excitable UBESters turned up outside the Union at 4am, bleary eyed and beard-scratchingly tired (apart from a few of us fortunate not to have to drive who were still buzzing from Mr.Wedge's Union that night). We pilled into a minibus and several cars and began the long drive up to the Cairngorms.
	Canada: Summer 2007 Trip number one of the summer of 2007 saw a number of UBES members fly out to the Canadian Rockies for plenty of trekking and climbing. Pictures and trip report can be found on the trip report page.
	Dolomites: Summer 2007 These are very tall spikey hills in North Italy and part of the Alps, however in August when we went there was no snow about. 13 people, 15 days in hills. Read about the exploits in Dancing Dave's report!
	Kenya: Summer 2007 (Unofficial Trip) The third trip of the summer of '07, an unofficial trip organised by UBES members, saw them take in amongst other things the mighty African Mt. Kenya. Check back in a few decades for an up to date report, but for now here is a short poem by Kat.
	Romania: Summer 2006 In September 2006 11 UBESters set off on their Eastern European adventure to explore Romania, a former Eastern Bloc communist country which has been described as ‘the Wild West of Europe’ and as a land of mountains, plains, wolves and Dracula. So what did this country, which was due to join the EU the following year, have in store for them? Find out more!
	French Alps: Summer 2006 9 UBESters went for three weeks to the Alps for some fairly hardcore snow and ice stuff. Learn about their exploits from the 'student slum' on the trip report page.
	Scotland: Winter 2005 Power ballards. Becca's Mum. Risk. Snow, of course. What else?
	Norway: Summer 2005 Sunny Newcastle was the beginning of our adventure where we (Nic, Nancy, Tam, Ali, Dirk, Dave of the J, Rob and me-Kate) embarked upon the Fjord Line Ferry and survived a 24hour crossing to Bergen! We then drove up to Jotenheimen National Park where Boverdalen campsite welcomed us. Read what happened next...
	Dolomites: Summer 2005 In late June 2005, 9 UBESters headed out to Italy to tackle the Dolomites using the famous Via Ferrate system. The system was first placed in the war to allow soldiers to quickly traverse the mountain paths, as they didn’t need to place gear. See what happened when UBES had a go.
	Peru: Summer 2004 In the summer of '04, 11 members of UBES flew into Peru (in 24hr extreme plane boredom), courtesy of Lufthansa and AeroPostal (don't ask), who between them promptly lost our luggage. Flick, Nancy and Sarah provide an account of the exploits that followed.
	Scotland: Winter 2003 VERY brief, but mostly accurate summary of an UBES trip to Scotland in 2003. From the relics pile!
